Hi there, I’m Dani

I’m a bookkeeper with 20 years of experience, specializing in nonprofit accounting and financial management. Nonprofit finance isn’t just my side gig, it’s also my day job! I work in finance and operations for an environmental nonprofit in Los Angeles, so I understand firsthand the particular accounting, reporting, and compliance needs that come with running a nonprofit organization.

I help organizations build and maintain books that are accurate, useful, and structured with nonprofit reporting in mind. That includes setting up or restructuring charts of accounts; tracking programs, grants, and restricted funds; reconciling bank, credit card, and multi-currency accounts; and cleaning up books that have gotten a little off track.

I can also prepare regular financial reports for boards and finance committees, including budget-to-actual and program-level reporting, and organize year-end financial information so your CPA has what they need to prepare your Form 990. For smaller and more straightforward organizations, I can prepare and file the return directly.

While nonprofits are my specialty, I’ve also provided bookkeeping support to small for-profit businesses.

My goal is simple: to give you books that make sense, not just at tax time, but throughout the year, so you can understand where your organization stands and spend more of your time focused on the work you actually exist to do.

  • Keep your books accurate and up to date with regular transaction review, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable support, and month-end close.

  • Set up or restructure your QuickBooks file with a chart of accounts designed for nonprofit reporting. I can also help organize classes, programs, grants, and restricted funds so your financial reports are useful throughout the year and your Form 990 is easier to prepare.

  • Behind on your books or inheriting a system that no longer makes sense? I can review, reconcile, clean up, and reorganize your records so you have a reliable starting point going forward.

  • Receive clear, regular reports for leadership, boards, and finance committees, including statements of financial position and activities, budget-to-actual reporting, program-level reporting, and other customized reports your organization needs.

  • Track grant income and expenses, donor restrictions, programs, and designated funds so you can see how money is being used and report accurately to funders and your board.

  • I can set up and configure payroll through QuickBooks and other payroll platforms, including employee profiles, deductions, direct deposit, accounting integrations, and automatic payroll for salaried employees. I can also reconcile payroll activity to your books and help troubleshoot payroll-related accounting issues.

  • For organizations working internationally, I can reconcile and maintain accounts in multiple currencies and help keep foreign transactions organized within QuickBooks Online.

  • I can compile and organize the financial information your CPA needs for year-end reporting and Form 990 preparation. For smaller organizations with straightforward returns, I can also prepare and file eligible Form 990-series returns directly.
